Technical Interview Tips

Keith Rome, an über smart friend of mine and fellow MVP, recently posted some interview tips on how to increase the odds of landing that next dream job.  Remember, it's the little things that help!

I have been in HR now for almost 10 years, and I normally don't agree with "interview tips" but the list Keith put together is great, and very accurate!

I have interviewed many candidates in the last three years. I would like to add the following items to Keith's based on my personal experience:

1) Be prepared to discuss anything on your resume and check it for spelling, grammar, and content.
2) Dress appropriately.
3) Be on time.
4) Be aware that your communication skills (if this is a consulting position) are every bit as important as your technical skills.
5) Seem excited about the opportunity you are interviewing for - who wants to take a chance on a candidate who seems disinterested?
6) Never be confrontational - if you come off confrontational during an interview - the interviewer will not want under any circumstances want to put you in front of a client.
