MOSS 2007 Resources
-
I stumbled across this AWESOME source of MOSS 2007 information the other day. Somehow Mark Kruger has managed to compile this gigantic list of resources. Kudos to him as I'm sure a great many people will find this information very useful, including myself! I know Brendon had asked for sources of info, so I will be informing him of this too.

Content Management Server to Office SharePoint Server 2007 migrations
-
As some of you may or may not know, I have spent the last 6 weeks or so migrating a CMS 2001 client to CMS 2002. You may say to yourself, "Huh? Why?". Believe me, I have asked myself the same question. It all boils down to the client just not being ready for the move to 2007 along with a hard deadline of October 1st for the new site. I am trying to do my best at seeing the positives in working on such a project, and I think I have finally found one worth mentioning. Welcome to the world of CMS 2002 ---> MOSS 2007 migrations. The experience I have gathered here thru project work, online research and product exposure has made me much more prepared to work on what I'm sure will be a boat load of migrations at some point. The big disappointment here is that I am stuck in South Carolina, not in Atlanta.
Did you know that SharePoint 2007 does not support connected postings among a myriad of other things?
Here is a great link outlining many of the things you will need to look for when migrating your CMS 2002 sites to MOSS 2007.
Assessing and Analyzing Your MCMS 2002 Application for Migration
I hope you find it as useful as I did.

SharePoint 1,2,3! - Level 200 - Next Week!
-
Tonight, I spent most of the evening with Matt transitioning some of the Level 200 material for the SharePoint 1,2,3! Hands on Lab to him. I will be out of town next week and will not be able to help present so we needed to get that done.
As we were going thru the material we were experienceing some "technical difficulties". One that stands out in particular is when we were trying to view a list in datasheet view. We had Excel installed and spent a good 10 minutes or so wondering why we could not access this view. Well, as it turns out, this features only works with Office 2003 Pro and up and I had installed Office Standard while building the vpc this time around. It makes me wonder if all the "Office" integration features are only available with Office 2003 Pro or only this particular one. More research is required, that's for sure.
All that said, the Level 200 presentation is Monday at the Microsoft campus in Alpharetta and the Hands on Lab is happening at the Devry campus in Alpharetta on Tuesday. Even though there is lots of space at the Devry facilty, we encourage you to register so thay we can get an accurate headcout for food/swag.
Enjoy Level 200!
